Special Terms and Conditions:We are offering half interest in this Ram Lamb. We have a group of ewes we'd like to breed for January lambs this coming breeding season but we do have flexibility in how we accomplish that. All semen collection and sales will be done through us at Dona Livestock, unless other arrangements are agreed upon. All semen sales will be split 50-50 with the new owner. Please contact Jim Dona 307-262-7134 to discuss usage for both the 2018 and 2019 breeding season, and further discuss semen details.
Sire:Border War
Dam:Donor 45(SermonxLog Dog)
Notes/ Comments:Steamboat is an ET Ram Lamb bred as well as any we have raised; our excitement about this one is through the roof, sired by Border War, which many of you may have heard good things about. Border War was raised by Jason Simpson, is sired by Bravo and out of a Log Dog 2054 Daughter who was a flush mate to Fear Factor and Dirty Dog. Border War makes them big boned and shaggy, huge hipped and pinned, and with a look and elevation to front that is becoming more important today. He has created quite the buzz amongst visitors at Jason’s house this winter and spring, we couldn’t be more thankful to own part of him with Jason and plan to feature him this August as our lead sire. Steamboat’s Damn has been our foundation female ever since we purchased her for $4500, bred to Rock Pile, as the lead ewe in Clay Elliott’s Early Bird Bred Ewe Sale a few years back. That initial mating produced our best Sire to date “Obsession”. Obsession has flat out worked in our flock as well as Stewart Livestock’s and the host of folks who have purchased bred ewes or semen. In 2 crops we have retained 12 daughters and a granddaughter, meaning 35% of our ewe base, he has raised 3 stud bucks we have retained interest in; one is in Colorado and another in Worland WY. Both bucks made outstanding crops for their buyers this year; the third is an ET buck lamb we have kept for ourselves from this year’s crop. Obsession’s mom has also put 2 daughters in our flock, and now Steamboat, she’s just 3 folks!! Steamboat himself possess a captivating look from the side, is great in his chest floor and ribcage, is as wide pinned as the come and very big stifled, he no doubt was going to keep his jewels from the day he hit the ground. As big boned and shaggy as you want with plenty of muscle laid into a great skeleton, this one will produce no doubt, I can’t wait for him to mature out, he is still just a touch greener then I’d like as he lost his Recip momma at 5 weeks of age. I really feel this one will be better than Obsession in the end, and is going to have a huge impact on our flock! With our plans to use his Daddy heavy this year we decided to offer you an opportunity to impact your flock as well, buy into Steamboat with confidence!!
